Yapaia Vision New
A clear view behind you. In Home Assistant.
Analogue cameras such as your reversing camera in Home Assistant, via an inexpensive USB video grabber – local, no cloud.
- Reversing camera and other analogue cameras
- Inexpensive USB grabbers, including four-input ones
- Switch channels by automation, e.g. when reversing
- Test image for trying it without hardware
The camera you already have
Many motorhomes have a reversing camera that only delivers an analogue video signal. Yapaia Vision brings that picture onto your Home Assistant computer with a USB video grabber. There, every camera becomes an ordinary camera entity – for your dashboard, your tablet and your automations.
What Vision can do
| Analogue cameras | Reversing camera, rear camera or door camera – each one a camera of its own in Home Assistant, with still image and live view. |
| Inexpensive grabbers | Anything Home Assistant OS recognises as a video device. For the popular EasyCAP002 “4CH USB DVR”, which has no Linux driver, Vision brings its own programs. |
| Several channels | Most four-channel sticks show one input live at a time. Vision switches between them: from a select entity, with an action or on its own page. |
| Thinks ahead | Put it in reverse? An automation switches to “Reversing camera”. |
| A clean picture | PAL, NTSC or SECAM, deinterlacing against comb artefacts, capture only on demand or always on. |
| Test image | Without hardware, every channel shows its name and the time – so you can check everything right up to the dashboard. |
Together with the other modules
Like Go and Beat, Vision registers with the “Yapaia” integration and appears there as a device of its own. The ready-made Rangieren (manoeuvring) dashboard in the Yapaia repository shows the reversing camera right next to other displays for parking.
To be honest
- Vision is new. It has been tested on the EasyCAP002 with a reversing camera, less so with other grabbers.
- On Linux, most four-channel sticks run only one input at a time. The other channels show their last picture.
- The EasyCAP002 needs firmware from its Windows driver. Yapaia is not allowed to ship it – you upload it once on Vision’s page.
